The main criterion is the new composition. Altered Reality is not a sufficient characterization of creative photography. In conventional photography filters, saturated color films, and so on alter the reality. In portrait photography the alteration of reality begins already with the make up of the model. The photograph may be retouched or corrected digitally but the cosmetic alterations are not, or should not be, obvious. In contrast, creative photography emphasizes the alteration of reality.
